This decorative ceramic bowl was hand-painted and glazed by Rezgar Mamandi at Manna Pottery in Sterling, Virginia. A wide rim and a deep center are covered in a colorful garden design, and the outside is painted too. At 10½ inches (26.7 cm) wide, it works as a centerpiece, a fruit bowl or a serving bowl. All of the painting is freehand, and this piece is one of a kind.
The center of the bowl opens like a flower: rings of yellow, red, purple and green petals spread out from a golden middle. Around it, the wide rim carries a lace-like border in white, blue and black. On the outside, tall arches filled with blue and purple blossoms sit above a band of red tulip shapes, with turquoise and yellow between them. Because every petal is painted by hand, small variations are part of the piece, not flaws.
Is it painted on both sides?
Yes. The inside, the rim and the outside are all hand-painted.
