Amanda Fletchersmith graduated from VCU in 2004 with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts (BFA.) where she focused on ceramics and jewelry. She has managed custom frame shops and galleries in Virginia.
She has shown at multiple galleries around the metropolitan DC area. Amanda's art can regularly be found at Del Ray Artisans, The Art League at the Torpedo Factory, and at The Fairfax Art League.

Amanda's mediums include ceramic, watercolor, acrylic, fiber, metal, and mixed media; she prefers to work with traditional techniques applied to non-traditional materials and vice versa.
Amanda's primary focus is recreating the look and feel of living, moving creatures in her art. Whether fantastical or realistic, Amanda's art primarily revolves around breathing life into artistic interpretations of the natural world. Her pieces draw inspiration from nature and biology diagrams as well as mythology, fantasy, and science fiction.

Guided by Amanda Fletchersmith, one of our talented instructors known for her whimsical and expressive clay figures, you’ll spend two relaxing hours shaping your own unique character — whether inspired by your imagination, a favorite figure, or something entirely abstract. Learn essential sculpting and hand-building techniques, explore form and texture, and add personality and detail to your piece. After the session, your work will remain in the studio to dry and be kiln-fired. You can then return about three weeks later for a free painting and glazing session once your sculpture is ready.
