Service Description

Not every young artist is ready for a full-week commitment — and that's exactly why this one-day clay camp exists. Our Kids & Teens Handbuilding Workshop packs the joy of pottery into a relaxed 2.5-hour session for ages 7 and up. Kids build their very own bowl using the coil technique, then paint and decorate it the same day — a perfect first step into clay, a creative summer activity, or a low-pressure way to explore pottery before joining our week-long Kids Creative Clay Camp. Held in our warm, welcoming art studio in Sterling, VA, this workshop brings together families from across Loudoun and Fairfax County, including Ashburn, Potomac Falls, Cascades, Herndon, and Reston. What to Expect From the moment they sit down, kids are creating. This guided, hands-on session is fun, flexible, and beginner-friendly, with plenty of room for imagination and personal expression. 2.5 hours of hands-on clay building with friendly instructor guidance Build a real bowl using the coil technique Paint and decorate it the same day — every bowl turns out one-of-a-kind A safe, encouraging studio environment trusted by local families All clay, tools, and materials included Each bowl is glazed and kiln-fired food-safe, ready for pickup in about 3 weeks What They'll Learn Students explore foundational pottery techniques in a playful, approachable way: Coil building — shaping a bowl coil by coil Adding texture, detail, and color with underglaze How raw clay transforms through glazing and firing Focus, patience, and the confidence of finishing a handmade piece No experience needed — just curiosity and creativity.
