This small ceramic jewelry box is hand-painted in Manna Pottery’s Garden design, glazed, and signed on the bottom by the artist. It is round, one of a kind and just 3″ across and 2½” high (7.6 × 6.4 cm), with a lift-off lid that keeps rings, earrings and little treasures safe and dust-free.
Garden-themed patterns have decorated ceramics, textiles and tilework across the Near East for centuries, and our Garden design is Manna’s own take on that tradition. On the lid, a star-shaped rosette opens from a red flower at the center into white petals, green leaves and dotted, leaf-shaped panels, each holding a small red bud, all set on a mint-green ground. The cobalt-blue rim of the lid carries white scrollwork dotted with red. Around the body, a row of arches frames red tulip-like flowers on green stems above a border of yellow blossoms, and the inside is glazed a deep red. Because every line is painted by hand, small variations in color and brushwork are part of the piece, not flaws.
