Why a paw print keepsake?
Your dog’s paw is only this size once. In a few months it’ll be bigger, rougher, a little more grown up, and that little paw print you have from puppyhood will be the only proof it was ever this small.
That’s the difference between a photo and a keepsake. A photo shows you what it looked like. A piece of fired clay lets you actually touch the shape of it, years from now, still sitting on a shelf, still exactly the same size it was the day you brought your dog into our studio in Sterling, VA.
Every piece we make is hand-glazed and kiln-fired, not air-dried or painted on top of a mold kit from a box. That’s what makes it durable enough to keep for good.
How it works
We use a soft, non-toxic clay that’s completely safe for your dog’s paw, no chemicals, no mess left on their fur, no discomfort. Once we have a clean impression, we let the piece dry slowly, then hand-glaze it in the color you choose. From there it goes into our kiln and is fired at a high enough temperature to become permanent, the same process used for any piece of fine pottery, not a craft-store mold.
The result is a solid ceramic piece, not a soft clay or plaster casting that can chip or crumble over time. It’s built to be displayed, handled, and passed down.
